Live casino explained: how live dealer games work
In a live casino a real dealer runs the game at a real table and you watch it on video. You place your bets on screen during a short betting window, and the result is decided by the cards, dice or wheel on the table.
How a live round works
Each table has its own minimum and maximum bet and its own rules. Check them before you play, because payouts and extra bets can differ from table to table.
- The dealer opens a round and a timer starts: this is the time to place your bets.
- When the timer ends, bets close and the dealer plays the round.
- The result is shown, winning bets are paid, and the next round begins.
The main games
- Baccarat: bet on Player, Banker or Tie. The hand closest to 9 wins. Cards 2 to 9 count as their number, 10 and picture cards count as 0, an ace counts as 1, and only the last digit of the total matters.
- Roulette: bet on where a ball will land on a numbered wheel. See our roulette guide.
- Blackjack: get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. A blackjack usually pays 3 to 2.
- Dragon Tiger: one card goes to Dragon and one to Tiger, and the higher card wins. A tie is a separate bet.
- Sic Bo: bet on the result of three dice, such as a total or a specific number.
- Bull Bull: a five-card game where you try to make groups of three cards that add up to a multiple of ten.
- Teen Patti, Andar Bahar and Texas Hold'em: card games popular with different players, each with its own rules shown at the table.
Tips
Learn a game with small bets first. Every casino game has a built-in house edge, so no pattern or system guarantees a win. Set a limit before you start, and stop when you reach it.
